About Thirteen Sisters
If you're after Australian designed, Australian made small batch ladies accessories, you've come to the right place! Unique designs you won't find elsewhere, as the concept through to creation all happens in my workroom.
The Nina C. range consists of bespoke clutches, iPad & laptop covers, baby gift sets, toiletry & makeup bags, earrings, glasses pockets, bright fun aprons and face masks, all designed and created in Crystal Brook, South Australia. I also source beautiful on-trend earrings from other Australian creators. Custom wedding clutches are a speciality.
I have designed and created since I was a young child when I dressed my dolls in very basic hand stitched creations, and as I got older I actually wore my lovingly designed and created outfits ranging from everyday wear to formal gowns (even though sometimes I really shouldn't have!). My late Grandma would definitely be my earliest influence. To me her sewing room was the coolest room in the house and on school holidays when I'd spend time with her there'd always be a creation or two to take home.
Thirteen Sisters began with a clutch and outfit I created for my daughter for an event in 2017. I soon received requests to create more, and it grew from there. My business name reflects my actual siblings and sisters-in-law. How lucky am I!
The Thirteen Sisters workroom is located at the front of my house in a country town in rural South Australia, and I do spend a lot of time in this space. Even though I spend more than your average work week in this room, I find it hard to call what I do 'work' most of the time. My workroom also doubles as my shop where I have all items currently available on display. The shop is open by appointment.
My two sewing machines are a very new Juki and quite an old Bernina which I purchased second hand about 15 years ago. I love both of them! I design all of my own patterns and source as many of my fabrics, tassels, braids, interfacings etc from Australian companies as I can. Any off cuts or scraps of fabric are passed on to teachers at local primary schools or kindergartens. Who knows, maybe a small child may be inspired to create with fabric one day too.
I am constantly in search of new fabric designs as I try not to produce too many of any one colour or fabric range in each collection. This means that when you purchase a Nina C. product you can be sure it hasn't been mass produced and it is quite unique.
